Hi,
I've installed AppointmentsBookPro and after clicking "DEMO Software" button I get this error: --------------------------- Appointments Book --------------------------- Unsuccessful connection to database. There are two common issues that cause this problem. 1. You installed Appointments Book and this is your first use. The Database has not been created due to AntiVirus software settings. To correct this problem, lower your AntiVirus software settings or temporarily disable your AntiVirus software and try the installer again (DO NOT UNINSTALL). During the reinstallation, ignore prompts regarding previously installing the product - the installer will know the installation is incomplete. 2. An Administrator installed the program but did not add your user account (Sonya) in the Permissions window. Please right click on the Appointments Book Pro Desktop icon, from the popup menu choose "Run As Administrator". You should be able run the program as Administrator, then once the program opens, click Maintainence Tab -> Permissions and create a New User with your Windows Account Name (Sonya). If problems persist please contact Appointments Book Technical Support. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- How do I get this program working? Sonya |

Hi Sonya,
Thanks for getting in contact with us, I'm glad we we're able to resolve this. I'm posting the solution here for everyone's benefit: ----------------- PROBLEM ----------------- By turning up AntiVirus security settings and installing AppointmentsBook we saw the error you reported: ----------------- CAUSE ----------------- Shown here with ZoneAlarm, during the install I was prompted to "Kill" or "Dont Kill" the database creation process (depending on your AntiVirus and settings you may not get to choose, in which case you will need to disable your AntiVirus software temporarily to install AppointmentsBookPro). ![]() ![]() I've circled "Dont Kill" and "Allow" as they allow the program to be installed successfully. NOTE: When I clicked "Kill" the first time, the installer DID complete, however the Database had obviously not been created and thats how I reproduced the error reported. ----------------- RESOLUTION ----------------- The resolution is to disable AntiVirus, lower the AntiVirus security settings or if prompted during installation to allow and not kill the installation processes. I also let you know that AppointmentsBookPro DOES NOT WORK AFTER IT HAS BEEN UNINSTALLED. BUT YOU CAN REINSTALL THE PRODUCT (AGAIN - OVER THE TOP) AND THE INSTALLER WILL CREATE THE DATABASE. Here is a screenshot of the AppointmentsBookPro Installer creatng the database (successfully after I lowered AntiVirus settings) then it prompts all the other components are installed: ![]() In the background of the above prompt, you should be able to see that the Database has been created successfully. Once you see that you'll be able to open AppointmentsBookPro without error. Once the program is installed successfully tighten your AntiVirus security settings back up again. If the reported error message continues, repeat the steps of reinstalling AppointmentsBookPro reducing security settings. Thanks.
